A Peek Behind the Curtain
Program Description: Wendelin will share insights from her twenty years in publishing, including story development and structure, revision (its importance and how to learn to love it), what it means to “be a writer” (habits, training your brain, becoming a finisher), and “a peek behind the curtain” of traditional publishing (agents, editors, copy-editors, design), with a goal of inspiring members to keep writing no matter the obstacles.
Short Bio: Wendelin Van Draanen is the bestselling author of more than thirty novels, sold around the world. She has written both series and stand-alone titles including the Edgar-winning 18-book Sammy Keyes series and Flipped, which became a Warner Brothers feature film. Her first non-fiction book, Hope in the Mail: Reflections on Writing and Life, is a craft guide with publishing insights, suitable for anyone who wants to write.
